This is one of the few laptops with a GeForce 9800M GS graphics card – ranked 31st for GPU benchmarks according to Notebookcheck [notebookcheck.net]. Why the emphasis on the GPU? The GPU is the biggest bottleneck when it comes to gaming – ESPECIALLY mobile gaming. If you’re looking for a gaming laptop, you look at the GPU, everything else comes second. I bought the model that came before this one, the ASUS G50Vt-X1 (pretty much the same specs), in used condition for $700. I can say that baby is a solid performer. It can play pretty much anything but Crysis at max or near-max settings. My only gripe is the resolution – 1366×768 – but that is easily remedied with a desktop monitor. As far as I know, the G50Vt models are all discontinued, and you won’t be able to find them new at retailers anymore. None of the other big retailers (Amazon, Newegg, Tigerdirect/CC/Compusa, etc) have them in stock anymore! In any case, here’s the link and the specs.
